A STRIKE planned among postal workers has been called off after a last minute deal was brokered.
Members of the Communication Workers Union (CWU) and Royal Mail have agreed to investigate the possibilty of a new delivery office in Lymm after the current one was recommended for closure.
A planned move of the office to Altrincham on July 14 has been shelved.
Dave Kennedy, CWU branch secretary, said: “Recent months have seen our members and residents alike faced with extreme uncertainty. Our representatives have worked extremely hard to reach an interim settlement.
“We are delighted that common sense has won the day.
‘We look forward to working with the business to ensure that our members are able to continue to provide a first class service to the Residents of Lymm.
‘We would wish to place on record our thanks to local people for supporting our campaign.”
