Police warning over fake jewellery

SHOPPERS are being warned to be on their guard against people selling counterfeit goods on the town’s streets Police arrested a trader selling counterfeit designer sunglasses last week and also stopped another group of vendors from peddling fake gold rings.

A spokesman for Warrington Trading Standards said: “If people approach you in the street and try to sell you goods then there is a strong likelihood that they will be either counterfeit or stolen.

“If anyone sees any suspicious street traders in Warrington, or are approached by people trying to sell products such as clothing, jewellery or cigarettes please do not buy anything from them.”

Anyone approached by people selling suspicious goods in the street should contact either the police or Warrington Trading Standards on 0845 404 0506.
