THE 40th anniversary of Warrington’s twinning with Hilden in Germany was marked by a special event on Saturday.
The town’s Burgermeister Gunter Scheib and a delegation of visitors from the German town was in Warrington all last week and opened Hilden Square.
Along with Warrington Mayor Clr Graham Welborn he renamed the square, close to Boots and the White Hart pub, on Sankey Street.
The delegation, from the town twinning committee, used the visit to compare our services with their own.
On the agenda was a visit to the town’s CCTV monitoring system and to the centre for independent living, a building run by Warrington Disability Partnership.
Anyone interested in the possibility of a future exchange with a Hilden club, society or family should contact Roger Hannam on 442105.
