Former council chief executive dies

A FORMER chief executive of Warrington Borough Council, Mike Sanders, has died.

The 62-year-old had been suffering with a long term illness and died this morning.

Clr Ian Marks, leader of the council said: "We are saddened by the news of the death of Mike Sanders, former chief executive of the council from 1989 to 1997.

"Mike was passionate about his job as chief executive and worked hard for the people of Warrington during his time in office and will be remembered fondly for this.

"Our thoughts are with his family at this time."
