A RUNCORN councillor who clung onto his seat in a straw poll, after votes left him neck and neck with his Liberal Democrat opponent in the recent election, has suffered a heart attack.
Labour's Halton Brook Cllr Stef Nelson was taken to Warrington Hospital in the early hours of last Wednesday.
His wife, Brenda said: "He is doing fine and is looking forward to coming home today.
"He is very lucky as doctors say it is the narrowing of one artery and can be treated by medication."
Cllr Nelson has been a councillor for 12 years and served on the board for two years.
He kept his seat after seven recounts revealed a dead heat between him and Lib Dem rival Louise Whitley.
