Connie is the oldest party girl in town

2:40pm Thursday 15th May 2008

'IT was party time!' for Halton's oldest person this week as Connie Lovell celebrated reaching 105.

Mrs Lovell marked the occasion in style with a party thrown by her family and friends at Heathercroft Care Home, in Warrington, on Tuesday.

The centenarian received her second congratulatory message card from the Queen - and she hopes plenty more will be in store.

She said: "I really enjoyed it and I would like to thank all the people for coming."

Born in Daresbury in 1903, Mrs Lovell was married for 38 years to Frank Lovell, a joiner who made locks for the Great Manchester Ship Canal.

He died in 1967 and Connie moved into the care home, on Dam Lane, in September 2006, after a bad fall at her house in Halton, where she grew up.

Among the guests celebrating her big day were her two brothers and her sister, who are all in their nineties.

Entertainment was provided by Sandra Currie, of Sentimental Journey, who led the group of residents in a good old-fashioned sing-a-long.

Mrs Lovell received recognition from Halton Council as its oldest resident when she turned 100.

Formerly a keen holiday-goer with her local over-60s club, the 105-year-old has three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
