A BOUNCER has admitted killing a teenager during a late-night attack in the town centre in February.
Wayne Jenks, from Watkin Street, Orford dramatically pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of 19-year-old Ryan Kelly, who died two days after the attack.
He was charged on three counts - an assault that dated back to just a week before, murder and manslaughter. He denied the charges of affray and murder.
The 29-year-old, dressed in a white sports t-shirt, spoke only to confirm his name and enter his pleas for the charges at Chester Crown Court today.
He appeared emotionless while speaking, lowering his voice to plead guilty to the manslaughter charge.
Owen Edwards, speaking for the prosecution said that they would accept the guilty plea of manslaughter.
Recorder for Chester, Judge Elgan Edwards said that a seperate charge of affray against Jenks would lie on file and the murder charge was dropped.
On Jenks' Facebook profile there was a quiz that said he was a Belligerent Drunk' and desribed him as such: "You're the one regulating the party. If any **** goes down, you're the first one to act. Plus, the person you punched in the face deserved it. Thanks to you, the rest of us can feel safe for the night."
There were also various pictures showing Jenks drinking in bars around the town.
Jenks was originally charged with wounding following the 3am attack in the early hours of February 29 on Rylands Street.
But that was changed to murder following the death of the popular teenager on Sunday, March 2, who suffered serious head injuries in the attack.
Following Ryan's death his parents paid tribute to their son saying he was 'a precious, loving, generous, warm-hearted and beautiful son'.
A life-long fan of Warrington Wolves, the club held a minutes applause in memory of the teen at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Sentencing was adjourned until June 13 for pre-sentencing reports to be completed. He can expect to serve a sentence between one and four years.
