A 41-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the discovery of a woman's body in a bungalow in Biddulph.
Police went to the property in Lyndhurst Drive following a call from Cheshire officers, who, shortly before had been called to an area of Congleton, where the man had been found injured.
The man remains at Leighton Hospital near Crewe, where Staffordshire police officers are present, and his condition is described as "comfortable."
A post-mortem examination was carried out this morning by a Home Office pathologist, and established the cause of death as multiple stab wounds.
"Although we are confident we know who the victim is she has not yet been formally identified," said a Staffordshire Police spokesman.
The woman is believed to be in her mid-20s, and her body was discovered just before 9am yesterday, Monday.
"We would appeal to anyone who was in the area between 7am and 8.50am who has not yet come forward to contact us," said Chf Insp Carl Brookes.
"They may have information that could help the inquiry.
"Local officers are in the area providing support to residents in the communuity."
