Kids do honours

CHILDREN from two primary schools in Holmes Chapel wore their Scouting and Guiding uniforms with pride to mark St George's Day.
The schools relaxed the rules after being approached by Alison Wright, akela of the Dane and Croco Cub Packs.
She said both schools were very supportive and sent letters home inviting the children to wear their uniforms to school for the day.
Hermitage Primary School also invited her to speak at their school assembly on St George's Day. "I was amazed to see so many children wearing their uniforms," she said.
"Not only were the children at both schools dressed immaculately but you could see the pride in their faces and they were so keen to share information about their activities with their friends."
Alison said she was confident that this was the start of a new tradition for St George's Day in the primary schools of Holmes Chapel. "Next year I will also make contact with all the schools that our young people attend to encourage their support too," she said.
Lord Baden-Powell choose St George to be the Patron Saint of The Scout Association.
He felt that the legend set a good example of faith, courage and perseverance.
