THE renowned Hallé Fireworks and Light Spectacular returns to the stunning lakeside setting at Tatton Park for its season finale concert on Saturday August 2.
In keeping with tradition, the concert will incorporate one of the music world's most spectacular and extensive firework displays, synchronised this year to extracts from Holst's famous Planet Suite: Mars, Saturn and Jupiter.
This year's programme will be conducted by John Wilson and celebrates Cheshire's Year of Gardens 08. It will include classical masterpieces such as Tchaikovsky's Waltz of the Flowers from The Nutcracker, excerpts from Wagner's Lohengrin and Grieg's Peer Gynt, great works by Dvorák, J Strauss and Berlioz, and the famous Dam Busters March by Coates.
The gates open at 5pm, allowing plenty of time for a picnic before the concert starts at 8.15pm. Tickets for the concert are now on sale, priced £25, by logging on to tattonparkconcerts.com On Sunday August 3 there will be a change of tempo when Tatton hosts an afternoon and evening of music from ABBA tribute band Björn Again and hits from the film Dirty Dancing.
The event will help to raise money for Francis House Children's Hospice in Didsbury. Tickets are £29 each.
