TWO new bus routes will be in operation between Winwick, Burtonwood, Omega and Westbrook from Monday.

Ward councillors Terry O’Neill and Cathy Mitchell welcomed the news of the new services.

But residents have been encouraged to use the B52 and 53 service on a regular basis or the routes could be cancelled.

Cllr Mitchell said: “Terry and I have struggled to negotiate this route for a service to get workers to and from Omega.

“We have managed to secure stops which residents can benefit from as well.

“The route will be reviewed every few months and, if it isn’t being used, risks being cut.”

Prices have also been introduced on a trial period starting from £1.50 for an adult single ticket and £2.50 for an adult return.

Children’s fares start from £1.

Concession passes are valid on all journeys from 9.30am to 12am from Monday to Friday and throughout the weekend.

Stops include B&Q in Winwick, Burtonwood Post Office, Omega North at Travis Perkins, Omega South at The Hut Group, Marks and Spencer at the Gemini Retail Park and Asda Westbrook.

The new routes will not affect discussions regarding the Neighbour Favour community bus.

Cllr Mitchell added: “It’s brilliant news but I just hope residents now use it so the service can continue.”

The route was set up after money was provided by Omega to help workers travel to and from work.

Full timetables are now available at bus stops along the route.

Paper timetables will be delivered to some nearby shops.
