FIRE crews were deployed to the M6 this morning to tackle a HGV fire.
The motorway was closed in both directions after the blaze broke out on the southbound motorway between junction 20 at the Lymm Interchange and junction 19 at Knutsford today, Monday.
It is understood the fire was extinguished before 10am but congestion continued to build.
Motorway lanes were closed as the crews tackled the incident.
Firefighters remained at the scene for around three hours.
