MOTORISTS will be disrupted by town centre roadworks until April.
I&H Brown – the contractor for the new town centre multi-storey car park, which forms part of the £107 million regeneration project – is carrying out work at the junction of Bridge Street and Academy Way.
As a result, Academy Way, from Bridge Street to Moulders Lane, will be closed until around April 3.
The one-way system at Moulders Lane will also be reversed, with traffic entering via Bank Street and exiting via Academy Way.
The operation includes the installation of a new surface and foul water drainage system, new kerbing and footway paving and the installation of new street lighting.
The area will still be accessible for pedestrians and taxis will be available outside the market.
A temporary bus stop is being provided on Academy Street, adjacent to the access to the temporary market car park.
