A NEW kitchen and management team is in charge at The Agency Bar and Grill after its poor hygiene inspection rating in March.
And the businessmen behind the venture in St Austin's Lane in the town centre are keen to tell customers all the points raised by food inspectors have been sorted out.
They said business had been buoyant until the Warrington Guardian reported the 0/5 rating on the Scores on the Doors website based on a Warrington Borough Council food hygiene inspection.
"For two or three weeks the press coverage decimated the business," said Steve Lawler, who jointly set it up with Roman Tujeshyn.
They replaced their old staff within days of the inspection in March but the rating, which they had initially believed to be 3/5, still stands on the website.
Mr Lawler said the poor rating had included issues like failures to fill in work sheets.
The 55-year-old, from St Helens, originally from Hammersmith in London, said: "I sat down with Environmental Health and we took remedial action straight away."
Chef Andy Jones was headhunted. He has worked mainly in Chester restaurants with Rosette awards dining awards.
"All my experience has been in fine dining," said the 27-year-old from Ellesmere Port, who is brining in a new menu emphasising traditional a la carte options.
Mr Lawler and Mr Tujeshyn had owned The Agency bar as a partnership but it has now been brought under the control of Bridge Leisure Group, in which Mr Lawler is a director, and Mr Tujeshyn, aged 43, from Woolston, acting as a consultant.
They set it up as an up market eatery away set away from the town centre and the Bridge Street atmosphere.
