MORE than a thousand people have taken part in Warrington Borough Council’s dog fouling survey, which closes on May 1.
The council has invited residents to suggest innovative ways to tackle the problem of irresponsible dog owners.
Peter Astley assistant director of regulation and public protection, said: “We know that a lot of people are concerned about dog fouling and we have recently received a number of complaints specifically about fouling on playing fields and around schools.
“Most dog owners act responsibly and pick up after their dogs and dispose of the waste bags correctly.
“Unfortunately a selfish few think it’s okay not to clean up after their pet.
“The cleaning up not only diverts council funds from other valuable services, it spoils our streets and is a health hazard.
“This survey is residents’ chance to let us know where dog fouling is an issue and for us to gain an understanding of their views which will help us shape what the council does next.”
