AN investigation has been launched following a suspected arson attack in the town centre.

Firefighters were called to Bridge Street after receiving reports or a car fire at 1.20am.

Fire crews used a hose reel jet to put out the blaze and officers from Cheshire Police attended the scene.

It is believed the fire was started deliberately.

Firefighters also attended a house in Bewsey yesterday, Saturday, at 5pm following reports of a fire on Troutbeck Avenue.

Fire crews - two wearing breathing apparatus - used a hose reel jet to put out the fire and a high pressure fan to clear smoke.

One casualty was treated by crews for smoke inhalation and was handed into the care of paramedics.

Crews were at the scene for around an hour.
