USERS of a Warrington Borough Council care service have said it helps them to be independent in a Care Quality Commission report.

The council’s intermediate care at home service has been rated as good after an inspection by the CQC in January.

In a report of the inspectors’ findings, users spoken to described the service as ‘a very good supportive service, with excellent communication and well-trained staff.

Inspectors spoke to 19 service users, one of whom said: “They help me to be independent – I can help myself more now.”

Another added: “They have time for me – I’m not rushed, the carers come and see what I need and go and organise it.”

The service, based at Waveney House on Vulcan Close in Padgate, currently provides regulated activity personal care for 78 people living across Warrington.

The CQC’s report added: “Feedback received from people using the service or their representatives was generally complimentary of the service and confirmed people had received care and support which was personalised and focussed on promoting their independence and wellbeing.

“People spoken with told us that the staff understood how to meet their needs and provided a personalised service that promoted their dignity, privacy and independence.”

Cllr Pat Wright said: "I am really pleased that the excellent work being carried out by our adult social care staff has been recognised - the staff are caring, well-trained professionals who strive to provide the best possible service they can for people across Warrington."
