A PAIR of cats with a rare genetic condition that gives them extra toes are looking for a new home.
Sisters Dior and Escada are polydactyl cats and have 21 toes in total where normal cats have 18.
Claire Frangleton, of Warrington Cats Protection, said: “There is a legend among sailors that polydactyl cats used to be ship’s cats and the extra toes helped them climb the rigging.
“Although they look a little unusual, the extra toes do not affect their health in any way and we know Dior and Escada would make someone a perfect companion.”
Polydactyly is genetic so if a polydactyl cat has kittens, there is a good chance that some of the kittens will also have extra toes.
