VICTORIA Park is set to host its third Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile in March and this year participants will be able to try out the new running track in the park as part of the challenge.

Residents from the town will be walking and running to raise life-changing money for Sport Relief 2016.

The colourful, cheerful and eager milers will be doing their bit to make a difference to people living across the UK and the world’s poorest communities on March 20.

The event has something for everyone including an inclusive one mile route as well as more challenging routes for the three and six mile races.

Setting off from Victoria Park the mile will involve four laps of the athletics track making it ideal for those with buggies and wheelchairs to take part.

The three and six mile routes take runners and walkers through the stunning park onto Blackbear Park and even onto the TransPennine Trail.

Organiser Louise Shannon from LiveWire, said: “The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile in Victoria Park is here and it’s your time to walk or run yourself proud.

"From little ones with their Mums and Dads, to runners up against the clock there’s something for everyone to make themselves feel proud on this special day.”

Sport Relief is back from March 18 to 20 and there are more ways than ever for you to take part, change lives and feel proud.

Whether you get sponsored to enter an event at the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games or fundraise with friends and family at home, work or school, you’ll help people living incredibly tough lives.

In fact, half of all the money raised by the public is spent right here at home in the UK, with the other half used to make a difference in the world’s poorest communities.

You can register for the mile now at sportrelief.com or if you’d like to volunteer at the event, call Lou Shannon on 624996.
