Flood warnings remain in place along the Sankey Canal, including Europa Boulevard, Fairbourne Close in Callands, and Higham Avenue, Tavlin Avenue, Hodgkinson Avenue, Marshall Avenue, Hawleys Lane and Mullen Avenue in Dallam.

Densham Avenue and Northway in Longford remain closed after they were flooded following heavy rain in the evening of Christmas Day and the morning of Boxing Day - sandbags have been distributed in the area.

Heath Lane in Croft remains closed between Mustard Lane and Stone Pit Lane and Pool Lane in Lymm has also been shut by police.

Police are also attending the Lasky Lane and Lymm Road areas of Thelwall after reports of flooding.

A statement from Cheshire Police said: "Emergency plans are in place and residents in the affected areas are advised to take extra care and give a thought to elderly or disabled people living in the area.

"People, especially children, should not attempt to walk through flooded areas."
