A 'CARING' youngster has been named the winner of a Disney beauty pageant.

Nine-year-old Demi Holmes from Woolston was crowned the Minnie Face of Europe winner last month having competed against girls from Brazil, the USA, Japan, Belgium, France, Switzerland, India and Poland.

The Woolston Community Primary School student had to deliver a two-minute speech about her hobbies and aspirations in front of 200 people and perform a dance routine at the event, which took place over the space of a week at Disneyland Paris.

Mum Sarah said: “Demi was so surprised to win and she never in a million years thought that she would place let alone win such an amazing title in her first international pageant.

“Myself, her dad and her sister knew she would do well as she is such a well-mannered, caring and well-spoken little girl.

“We are so, so proud of Demi – she has grown in confidence, is able to speak well in public and has made friends for life from across the close.

“She was and is a credit to us and her town.”

Demi has followed in the footsteps of her 17-year-old sister Caitlin who won the Teen Face of the World last year.

Contestants at the pageant raised £150k for head injury support charity Headway.
