PUPILS at Brook Acre Community Primary School have been planting trees and bulbs in Padgate.

Youngsters from the Hilden Road school have been planting seeds in the area as part of a £250,000 regeneration project.

The project aims to improve landscaping to make Padgate more visually appealing and to make travelling through the area safer.

Places for youngsters to play will be created as part of the regeneration and wildlife habitats will be enhanced.

Nick Page of housing association Affinity Sutton said: “We have worked closely with the residents of our Padgate estate to shape the plans to transform the area – it’s been great to involve local children in the process too.

“Many of the pupils that attend Brook Acre also live on the estate so it has been fantastic to have them directly involved and hands-on, learning new things along the way.”

Neil Warburton, regeneration manager at contractor Keepmoat, said: “We’re really proud to have been chosen as an affiliate partner on the Padgate estate where we hope that our work with Affinity Sutton will really help rejuvenate the area.

“It has been great to contribute to such a fantastic project, especially working alongside the children of the community – it’s an excellent opportunity for them to really shape the surrounding that they will grow up in.”
