Diana award for mentors

Comments (0)A DEDICATED team of pupils has scooped a national award for inspiring troubled schoolchildren.
Peer mentors Jessica Beck, Tim Sherwin, January Wood, Fiona Carter, Rachel Rigby, Hollie Woosey, Natasha Woods and Susan Kelly, of The Heath Specialist Technical College, received the Princess Diana Award for their outstanding contribution to the school.
Head peer mentor Tim, of Elmwood, Norton, Runcorn, said: "It is a really good achievement. We have had other awards before, but to get this for the first time is great for everyone involved."
The group picked up the award for supporting fellow pupils at the school, in Clifton Road, Runcorn, who face difficulties. A further 72 peer mentors at The Heath were also commended for their work.
The Princess Diana Award, which launched nationwide in April 2000, is given to young people for youth participation or volunteering, selfless service to others or overcoming adverse circumstances.
