A PROGRAMME to help discover the town's lost treasures will air on ITV on Sunday night.
Following the trail of the Cheshire Cat, Lost Treasures features Mark Olly's travels - with Warrington featuring heavily this Sunday. During the series, he will visit treasures such as Warrington Museum, Stretton and, on Sunday, Grappenhall's St Wilfrid's Primary School.
Producer Phil Hirst, of Planet X, was brought up in Warrington and was christened at Grappenhall church. He said: "The school children surprised us with their attention to this project and we thank the staff for their co-operation.
"But it really confirmed what we are trying to promote in this series. If you look hard enough, the links with the past are beneath our feet and above our heads."
The trail of the cat, which was a Druid deity, begins in Wirral and Warrington, while Grappenhall and Stretton are all featured in the episode, with Grapenhall's church, complete with its own Cheshire Cat, dating from Saxon times in parts.
The episode starts on Sunday at 6.05pm and runs for eight weeks.
