ONE person was taken to hospital last night after a car crashed into a lamppost, knocking it to the ground, in Padgate.
Police were called to the incident at 6.30pm yesterday, Tuesday.
Officers say a silver Renault Clio had appeared to lose control and hit the lamppost on Stirrup Close.
Ambulance crews were called at 6.34pm.
Residents has earlier rushed out to help the driver who had been hurt.
A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service said one person was taken to Warrington Hospital.
It is not yet known if they were seriously injured, although paramedics say they gave doctors at the hospital notice they were bringing a casualty in.
Police say it is not thought anyone else was involved in the collision.
