Penketh parish council clerk dies

THE clerk of Penketh Parish Council, Michael Fox, died on Saturday at St Rocco's Hospice.

Mr Fox, a retired teacher from Whittle Hall, had been the clerk for almost a year.

He had been ill for several months but the severity was not known until recently. He carried on working for the parish until days before his death.

Clr Linda Dirir, (Lab), Penketh, a borough and parish council and the current mayor, said: "He bought an awful lot to the position. He will be very sorely missed, he was an excellent clerk and he did an awful lot for the parish.

"He has been so brave to carry on doing that night up until almost the end of his life."
