TWO Penketh Primary School pupils have put pen to paper to tell the Warrington Guardian about why their school is ‘simply the best’.

Following the announcement that head teacher Mark Hilton was leaving to take on a new challenge, Alexandra Willis, from year six, and Eva-Annie Robinson, from year one, wrote a touching tribute to the Warrington Guardian to let us in on a little secret.

Alexandra said: “Penketh Primary School is amazing. That’s the secret but I have decided to share it with everyone.

“It is the people who are in the school that make it special and how we all work together.”

Six-year-old Eva-Annie added: “I like the teachers and the maths lessons. They help me to be clever.”

Pupils at the school on Coniston Avenue will be sad to say farewell to head teacher Mr Hilton, who has worked at the school since 2001.

Mr Hilton, who is stepping up to a new challenge at Sandfield Park School in Liverpool, said: “It was a lovely surprise but I wasn’t shocked as all the pupils are great like that.

“The pupils are brilliant, the parents have been so supportive and I have incredible staff.

“I will be sad to say goodbye as I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here but I am ready to take on a new challenge.”

Alexandra, who says the school has helped her on the way to becoming a heart surgeon, said everyone as the school will ‘miss him terribly’.

The 10-year-old said: “He has been here since I started in reception. He is very understanding and takes the time to help people with their maths if they are struggling so they do not feel like they are left out.

“He is very kind and can be strict sometimes but only when you have done something very bad. He is the best.”
