A MAN had a knife held to his throat as he was robbed in a subway in Padgate.

Police say the 28-year-old was walking from Padgate train station when he took the Vicarage Underpass on Station Road at 7.15pm on Wednesday.

He was followed by two men and grabbed by the throat.

One of the attackers held a Stanley knife to his neck and demanded money.

He emptied his wallet and they took the cash before running off.

The victim suffered minor cuts to his face and bruising during the attack.

Police are appealing for information.

The first attacker is described as white, around 6ft tall and of a gangly build.

He has a large, crooked nose which looked as though it had been broken in the past.

He also had dark coloured eyes with bags under them, ears which stuck out, and dark hair.

The man was wearing a dark blue hooded top with the hood pulled up and a navy blue snood pulled up over the tip of his nose.

He wore black gloves and spoke with a Warrington accent.

The second attacker is around 5ft 10ins tall with a slim build.

He had a hood pulled right down to his eyebrows and blue eyes.

He was also wearing a navy blue snood pulled up to the tip of his nose, and a navy blue or black hooded top which may have had a zip up the front of it, and black gloves.

Both attackers were aged in their late 20s to mid 30s.
