VOLUNTEERS donated £300 to help a woman with Down's syndrome attend next year's Special Olympics.
Knutsford and District Lions gave the money to Laura Jervis, 19, so she could attend the World Summer Games in China.
"We were pleased to contribute towards the costs," said a spokesman. Laura, of Darwin Street, Northwich, was recently selected to represent her country at the Special Olympics.
But she and her mother Elizabeth need £3,000 to fund the 5,700-mile trip to Shanghai.
Laura could be one of only eight women from Britain to represent her country at the games. She has been a member of the Cheshire Penguins swimming club for 13 years. Swimming coach Anne Calvert, who lived in Knutsford for 14 years, has helped to train her for competitions.
Laura specialises in freestyle and backstroke and may compete in both disciplines.
To help fund Laura's trip call her mum on 01606 75784.
