ROB Kilby was the first Weaver Valley Cycling Club rider to cross the line at Stone Wheels' 25-mile time trial on Saturday.

He set a personal best time of 57:12, followed closely home by clubmate Chas Redman in 59:33 and then Paul Lawson in another personal best time of 59:59.

Craig Lee was also in action, finishing the course in 61:44.

Former Weaver Valley favourite Carl Ruebotham, now riding for British Salt backed Team Swift, was second behind overall winner Derek Parkinson in a time of 52:20.

Parkinson clocked 51:44.

Meanwhile Alan Kemp and Dave Astles head to Milton Keynes on Bank Holiday Monday for the next stage of the League of Veteran Cyclists National Championships, the former a victor in six of his past seven races.

Weaver Valley's 10-mile evening time trial series continues tonight, Wednesday, in Lach Dennis from 7pm.

Newcomers are welcome to try their hand at this form of unpaced racing against the clock.

Sunday's club run leaves Hartford British Legion at 9.30am bound for Poynton.

Members meet every Monday at the same venue from 8.30pm.
