VICTIMS of domestic violence and people suffering from mental illness will receive extra support, thanks to the new Mayor of Halton.
Cllr Kath Loftus has chosen Halton Womens Aid and Halton Mind as her two Mayoral charities.
"I believe society is judged by how they look after their most vulnerable members," she told guests at her mayor-making dinner in the Stobart Stadium on Friday.
"I can't think of anyone more deserving than victims of domestic violence and people who are mentally ill.
"All money raised for Womens Aid will be spent on counselling children, who are often the hidden victims."
Kath's husband, Chris will be her consort.
Cllr Frank Fraser and his wife, Irene, are Halton's new deputy Mayor and Mayoress.
