KNYPERSLEY 1st X1 scraped a draw on Saturday after suffering a major batting collapse.

They were 101 for two at one stage against Moddershall, but lost seven wickets for the addition of only 65 runs.

They ended on 166 for nine in reply to Moddershall's opening innings of 245 for eight off 60 overs.

Knypersley lost their ninth man off the last ball of Moddershall's 50 overs, and picked up seven points from the disappointing draw.

Professional Lonwabo Tsotsobe was Knypersley's bowling star, the paceman taking five Moddershall wickets for 58 runs off 20 overs.

He took the first three wickets as the visitors struggled to 54 for three.

They recovered with a stand of 64 for the fourth wicket, and a partnership of 52 for the sixth wicket.

Neil Dutton took two wickets for 45 off six overs, and Rob James picked up one for 45 off 11.

The Knypersley bowlers suffered at the hands of opener Shaw, who hit 87 and claimed four wickets for 34, and professional Tahir, who hit 73.

Knypersley made a disastrous start, losing their first man without a run on the board.

They recovered with a stand of 55 for the second wicket between Darren Butler and Kim Barnett, and 46 for the third between Barnett and Paul Goodwin.

However wickets began to tumble after the dismissal of Goodwin at 101, three men going in the space of 13 runs.

Barnett top scored with 45, Goodwin made 32 and Butler scored 22.

Knypersley are at home to Stafford this Saturday, and Staffordshire Ladies play Worcestershire Ladies at Knypersley's ground on Sunday, the match starting at 11am.
