GARETH Rowe and Mohammed Arshad smashed their way to victory at Endon on Saturday.

They ended unbeaten on 37 and 24 respectively to see Alsager 1st X1 safely home.

Endon batted first, Shaun Rashid grabbing an impressive five wickets for 46, well supported by Rowe and Paul Tibbetts.

Rowe picked up two for 36, and Tibbetts ended with three for 24.

Despite an injury to Paul Newnes Alsager felt confident that 140 was an achievable target.

They lost Tibbetts for one, but fought back with an impressive knock of 37 from Grant Goodwin.

However the heavens opened to change the complexion of the match.

As the ball began to seam Alsager lost Paul and Gary Pickford and Rashid in quick succession.

Following the departure of Steve Armitage and Paul Adams it was left to eighth-wicket pair Rowe and Arshad to hit the required runs.

Alsager earned 19 points.

Alsager 2nds earned a winning draw at home to Endon.

Alsager opened with 208 for seven, Richard South top scoring with 47, followed by Andy Watkins on 28, Toby Kent on 26 and 21 from Ken South.

Endon made 177 for nine, Snow 83 not out.

Lucas Wood claimed four for 24, and Watkins three for 24.

The 1st X1 are at home to Porthill Park this Saturday, and the 2nds play the reverse fixture.
