MATT King says he is starting to feel settled at Warrington Wolves after admitting to being 'embarrassed' with some of his early-season displays.

Candidly speaking about his first few months in Super League, the Australian international centre has revealed that he underestimated how challenging the move from NRL side Melbourne Storm would prove.

King openly admits his form nose-dived as he took time to get used to a new club and a new country but says he is now settled and feels his performances are starting to improve.

"I've been disappointed with my form this season," said the 27-year-old, who signed a four-year contract with Wolves.

"I've been embarrassed at different stages with some of it.

"There have been times when I've walked off the field with my head in my hands because I've played at a standard that I'm very embarrassed with.

"I really think I've got more to offer the team but it just hasn't been coming.

"But for the last month I've been happier with how I'm travelling and I think I'm starting to find my niche within the team.

"There are just a lot of things that I used to take as second nature that haven't been coming off here in England.

"Whether it's me not working as hard in training, whether it's me getting used to the boys or whatever it is, I think I've turned the corner and the confidence that I lost is finally coming back.

"I don't think I anticipated just how hard the move from Australia was going to be.

"I think I thought I'd come over here and it would be like it has been for the last four-and-a-half years in Melbourne.

"For the last four-and-a-half years, I suppose I was comfortable. I knew what I had to do with the footy team, I knew what I had to do with the coaches to keep them happy and I knew what my obligations were with the club.

"But it's been a whole new way of life for me over here.

"Without sounding like a big girl, I didn't anticipate how tough the move was.

"There's the weather and I'm here for four years so I had to find a place that I was happy with.

"But all that is behind me now, the house is set up and my girlfriend has found a bit of work.

"Any poor form from here on in, I can't blame anyone but me."

Matt King is like breath of fresh air in his self depracating manner. Although his performances havn't been as we might have expected, his on field manner of constantly congratulating team mates on good tackles etc is worth his inclusion alone. After 4 years i think we will be well happy with his contribution. Having his head took off by Mathers then thrown back in against Bradford the following week wasn't the smartest move.

It has been a long time coming but yes he is correct - he has been massively disappointing, Having said that it is to his great credit that he has penned his feelings and we should admire his honesty, unlike some of the others who should come out with similar statements, coach included. Now Matt needs to put it right and start playing.

Now that Matt has held up his hands to what most of us supporters already knew, it should be a clean slate for him and a new start from now. Personally i thought that the improvement in his play has been clear to see from the last two games. All will be forgiven if he scores the winning try at the JJB tonight, I just have a good feeling about the team tonight. NOW THE WIRE!!!
