A TOTAL of five suspects are in custody and helping police with their enquiries after a serious assault in Weaverham at the weekend.

A 33-year-old man was left with life-threatening head injuries and a 28-year-old man left with minor head injuries after the incident, which happened on a disused railway line near Northwich Road. Both men are being treated in hospital.

The assault happened overnight between Friday and Saturday.

Well Anon, none of us want this sort of lifestyle for any of us but it seems to be indicative of society as a whole at the moment. No values what so ever. Gang warfare and no one can fight man to man with bare knuckles anymore.

A similar incident occured on an estate in winsford last bank holiday. Not a peep out of the Guardian then though.

Northwich seems to get more coverage.

As for Cheshie police...... my sides ache with laughter when I read that the people of cheshire have more confidence in them. lol

Well they seem to be putting effort into THIS crime. There were still vehicles there today when I went past.

At least they are trying to bring about a change. The culture we've heard about from the cities, where people are frightened to speak, is something we have to face down.

I agree. Tthugs should be brought to justice we all need to stand up and be counted.

The only negative is the sentences these idiots get.

No need to fear,Mr Blair and now Mr Brown have everything under control with their policy of tough on crime tough on the causes of crime,an ASBO will probably be awarded to these morons.

oh yes i know winsford is just as bad that is why i said mid cheshire is going downhill- and yes it is line with the rest of the country going downhill with the drug and yob culture spiralling out of control. From what ive heard one of these "morons" is constantly in trouble and has been given asbos in the past which have clearly worked???? yeh right!
i myself am a young person and am sick to death of the reputation these sort of incidents give us, with the majority of society tarring us all with the same brush.
lock em up and throw away the key is what i say to this

Let none of us forget that the Yob culture today amongst our youth is only due to the parents of today, who themselves are a product of the parents of yesteryear. A wise Christain once wrote, "bring up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it". No one should expect the police to do a parents job, or blame them because the parents do their job poorly. I certainly would not have a go at the baker because the butcher's shop didn't have any sausages.
Perhaps if the parents of today were made to take responsibility for their children, and were prosecuted for failing to do so, the same as the dog owner who has a viscious dog and allows it to stray and attack would be, then perhaps things may improve.
Not all youth are bad, i see some very remarkable individuals with high moral values. The difference between those and the yobs are.......you guessed it....the parents.

oh yes i know that parents can be a big reason for yobs behaviour but they are also an individual in themselves so must take partial responsibility.
i myself am a parent and my little girl is the most polite, well behaved little girl- she is only 2 and a half but is already well mannered as i have always encouraged her.

Succesive governments, euro politicians and do gooders have devalued what parents, teachers and the Police can do.

Poor sentencing, ASBO's and the lack of police officers on the beat make the youth of today think the own the streets.

National service for little toe rags....not asbo's.

Its OK to look at parentng skills when it comes to so called yob culture, but what about the people themselves all being over 18. they should be responsible for their reactions. I personally blame drink and drugs, both of which are readily available for all. I see first had in my job the danage cuased by drink and drugs, in particular violence. If there were police on every street corner these sorts of mindless people would find somewhere!!!! I couldn't agree more, and the magistartes should pass more severe sentances instead of community service.....

The place of this incident is well known to the local community as a no go due to the drug taking there.....
Therefore why aren't the police doin more about these so called drug hot spots???? we need more police on the street and give them more powers and get rid of all this human rights garbage!!!!!

I wonder how much Sarah B was paid to spout that rubbish!

I agree with Crusader, Anon and Phil.

Glad to see the penny has finally dropped and people have woken up at long last!

yes terry im glad someone else agrees! parents are completely responsible for an individuals actions, yes they do influence them but they dont go out and take drugs for them or fught for them do they so how can they be responsible?? if were on aobut youths then yeah parents are responsible they should know where there kids are and what they are up to.

Sarah B, do you have children? Teenage children? If so, do you know their EVERY movement? If you don't know their every movement, then how do you know they are not part of this "yob" culture?

It is easy to blame the parents, but parents cannot lock kids up. The teenager could be from the most respected household in the area, but if he/she gets in with the wrong crowd, then they CAN become troublesome.

Let's now forget though, that there are millions of teenagers out there, but a small minority are casting a black cloud over all of them.
