Woman rescued from blazing home

A WOMAN was rescued by firefighters after a fierce blaze ripped through her Runcorn home.

She was treated for minor injuries after being plucked to safety.

The drama unfolded at 5.45am this morning as thick black smoke billowed out of the windows of her terraced house in Holt Lane, Halton Village.

Neighbours were evacuated as firefighters wearing breathing apparatus fought the flames.

The road was closed for several hours.

Forensic experts are investigating the cause of the fire.
