UPDATED: Woman cut out of car
 |
| The crash on Manchester Road |
A WOMAN had a lucky escape on Friday when a tractor drove over the bonnet of her car in a town centre crash.
The accident happened close to Sainsbury's supermarket on Church Street at around 5pm.
Fire crews, the ambulance service and police were quickly on the scene and a road cordon was put in place.
The female driver of the white saloon car, thought to be in her 50s, was cut free from her vehicle by firefighters and treated in hospital for neck, back and wrist injuries.
The driver of the tractor was also treated for abdominal pain.
Attending the scene, crew manager of green watch at Warrington Fire Station, Jason Fletcher said: "The paramedics did an assessment of the woman and said we would have to take the roof off the car to put her on a long board because she had back and neck injuries.
"It took us about 15 minutes to extricate her.
"The tractor had gone over the front of her car but had missed her - she was a very lucky lady."
