Help for young homeless
A LIFELINE is being offered to distressed young people who have nowhere to live.
Nightstop will give anyone aged 16 to 25 the chance to sleep, wash, clean their clothes and have a hot meal in a safe environment.
Short term accommodation is being provided in a joint project run by Halton YMCA and Halton Council's homeless division.
Terry Pybis of Halton YMCA, said: "This initiative has given us the opportunity to help people who are in desperate need of care and support.
"We are very grateful to all the partners for their help with this project."
Mediation is also available, if needed, to help young people return to their families and prevent them becoming homeless.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service is also supporting the scheme by offering home safety assessments.
Free smoke alarms are being fitted in every property providing overnight accomodation, to help reduce the risk of fires.
Mark Cashin, deputy chief fire officer for community risk reduction, said: "The service is keen to support its partner agencies with any initiatives which help reduce the risks from fire and other emergencies and Nightstop is an excellent example of just that.
"I am sure this initiative will provide a great support to many young people in the Halton area."
