Corrie comes to Widnes
HEART-WRENCHING drama unfolded at Widnes Magistrates Court as a son faced a jail sentence for pushing his mum down the stairs.
But this was no ordinary defendant.
Trembling in the dock stood Coronation Street's bad boy David Platt, alias actor Jack Shepherd.
Harrowing scenes are set to captivate viewers in the coming weeks as he is pressed to explain why he left his mum, Gail, actress Helen Worth, for dead.
A paparazzi snapper caught Gail hobbling into court on crutches, supported by her distraught mum, Audrey, actress Sue Nicholls.
Granada TV this week confirmed it had been filming in Widnes but remained tight-lipped about the plot.
An eye witness, said: "There were loads of vans, it was really exciting.
"I can't wait to see it on the telly."
l Did you spot any of the soap stars in Widnes?
