A COMPETITION winner was able to trade a WEEE for a Wii by recycling unused electrical goods.

The Environment Agency and Currys on Alban Retail Park teamed up to collect Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) to recycle the unwanted goods.

Age old electronics such as HMV and Solid State televisions and a Teasmaid were unearthed in the haul that also included mobile phones and computers and even an electronic disco ball.

The winner of the Nintendo Wii games console was Tom Orr from Great Sankey who recycled two televisions.

The campaign aims to cut down on the amount of waste going to landfill by increasing re-use, recovery and recycling.

Matt Brennon, from The Environment Agency, said: "Residents are really keen to recycle electrical equipment and protect our local environment."

I have got a few old consoles that I wouldnt mind trading in such as a Gamecube, PS2 and Sega Megadrive.

Nothing beats X Box live in my opinion, its absolutely fantastic!
