BRITAIN may well have talent but the judges - with exception of Simon Cowell and his well documented money-making skills - really haven't.
The ITV1 show reached its finale on Saturday in a flurry of controversy surrounding child contestants and Susan Boyle's inevitable meltdown.
Anyone could have seen, right from the audition stage, that SuBo (as elements of the national media started to call her) would not be able to handle fame. But, once she had caught the imagination of the American market, she became a commodity too precious to offload.
As far as the child performers are concerned, I didn't agree with cry baby Hollie Steel being given a second chance to sing after her little tantrum.
No-one else would have been afforded that luxury - but then no-one else had their mother pleading with the judges to let her little darling perform again.
Back to the judges, however, and three big X buzzers to them. Cowell was far too ready to declare that mediocre acts were 'the best thing he had ever seen', and Piers Morgan praised far too many performers of dubious taste - this is a family show after all.
Then there is Amanda Holden, whose sole focus during the final week appeared to be on making sure she made a glamorous entrance at the beginning of each show. By the final she resembled some kind of wax doll.
I believe she has said she wants to look just like Joan Rivers when she gets older. I have news for her - she already does!
