AN Altrincham based charity is hoping an evening of fine dining and 80s excitement will help make children's dreams come true.

The Eric Kay Charitable Trust was established in January by local man Eric Kay, who was battling pancreatic cancer, to help raise money for worthy causes.

Eric's daughter and trustee of the charity, Sharon Kettle, explained: "He has always been very charitable and had been wanting to set up a charity for some time.

"When he was diagnosed with cancer we quickly established the trust. Fingers crossed, he is making a good recovery now and can continue to help with its running."

Their first major event is due to take place this October - a special dinner disco at Dunham Forest Golf Club will invite guests to a champagne reception, before enjoying a five star three course meal, an auction and finally an eighties inspired disco.

All money raised from the event will be matched by Eric himself and donated to children's charity, Starlight.

Sharon said: "We want to help raise money for worthy causes. Starlight brightens the lives of seriously and terminally ill children by granting their wishes and providing entertainment in hospitals and hospices throughout the UK."

She added: "For my first proper fundraising project, I've started with something very big.

"Luckily there are lots of people happy to help. I just want to make it a real success."

Tickets are priced at 45.
