Relegation run-in: Celtic face Terras in top match

ALL eyes will be on Throstle Nest tomorrow where Farsley Celtic welcome Weymouth in relegation battle's match of the day.

The Villagers are desperate to halt a slide that has seen them fail to win any of their past four matches - they've lost the last two - which has seen them land in the bottom four.

They are three points ahead of Vics, but have played one more match.

Celtic boss John Deacey has changed his tune after foolishly predicting the demise of Dino Maamria's men ahead of last week's 4-0 thrashing at the Marston's Arena.

"There are five teams in it now, any two will go down, and it makes it a bit more interesting," he told Farsley Today. "I just think we need to keep Weymouth in this battle. If they beat us they will be six points ahead and it will be hard to pull that back. It is a six-pointer, it's one we need to win, and we need all the support we can get."

They will need to improve dramatically on last week's dismal showing.

Vics aside, Weymouth are the team with momentum in the race to avoid the drop after an impressive win over Exeter City on Easter Monday.

They have lost just once in six games.

Manager John Hollins told the Dorset Echo that victory for his side at Farsley could be psychologically decisive'.

He reckons Weymouth need five more wins to stay up.

Elsewhere Halifax are another side in dire need of a change in fortune as they head south to face Exeter City.

Chris Wilder's men have lost three successive matches since going into administration earlier this month and bowed out of the Setanta Shield at Rushden & Diamonds last night, Thursday.

Despite toying with the idea they have yet to recall in form Darryn Stamp from his loan stay at Vics. They are boosted by the return of top scorer Jon Shaw at Exeter.

The Grecians are five points outside a play off place although nearest rivals Stevenage Borough have played two more matches.

It means they will be desperate to beat Halifax.

Altrincham host another play off hopeful, Torquay United, in their penultimate home game of the season.

The Robins earned a precious three points on Easter Monday with victory over Stafford Rangers at Moss Lane and will need another win tomorrow to keep their survival hopes alive.

Graham Heathcote's men only have six matches left - four of those away from home.

"We have far from given up hope that we can stay in this division," he told the Sale and Altrincham Messanger this week.

"But somewhere along the line we'll have to pick up a shock result.

"All the other teams involved in the battle have more resources available to them and are able to prepare better for games."
