Is this your dog?

| The abandoned dog |
THE RSPCA is looking for the owners of a dog that was left close to the Slutchers Lane centre.
The female cross-bred Staffordshire terrier was found tied to a fence close to Crosfields works off Liverpool Road at around 7am on March 27.
Left with a bowl of water, which had frozen and a blanket, the dog is thought to have been left for several hours.
Found wearing a distinctive red scarf and a red harness, the tanned coloured dog was rescued by the RSPCA.
The pet, which is thought to be about four-years-old, is micro-chipped, but so far attempts to trace the owner have failed.
The rescue centre is appealing for the owner or anybody who knows anything about the animal to come forward.
Five rabbits were also found left by the centre on March 28. Three rabbits were found in one damp box, while two were left in another.
Due to there being no room for the rabbits in the town's RSPCA branch, people who can rehome the animals are urged to contact the centre.
To provide information about the Staffordshire terrier or to house the rabbits, contact 632944.

Whichever spineless cretinous scumbag did this deserves to be publicly flogged. How anyone can mistreat any animal like this and the other poor dog which was found hanged is beyond belief.
I hope these people rot in their own miserable filthy lives, they do not even deserve to live. Scum.

The fact that someone has left water and a blanket and chained the dog up so it couldnt have run away has my respect, might not be the right thing to do to abandom a dog but at least they didnt just chuck it out the house! Good on the RSPCA for taking care!

You don't think the poor dog was completely confused and frightened and freezing?
God bless them for leaving a bowl of water and a blanket and of course tying her up!!
Absolute pondlife if you ask me.

To be truthful Scum is too good a word for the lowlife who did this. However until this country decides that enough is enough and decent people make a stand against [bold]all[/bold] types of abuse there will be no change. I only hope the old adage "you reap what you sow" is true and the lowlife who did this getys their comeupance

The Guardian should not be calling for the owners to come forward and if they do they should be named and shamed on here and banned from keeping any pets for life.

people take on pets and later realise they cannot keep them for many reasons. Its a sad case and one of many but the dog has a chance - unlike those thrown off motorway bridges or in canals or as i read on this site...hung from trees. Re others comments. Why does it seem like a competition to see how many names we can call the people who obviously thought of the dogs interests yet clearly didnt have either the sense or the bottle to visit the centre when it was open and explain the dilema.Too quick to judge sometimes folks ,without knowing the whole story.

I don't give a stuff about their story all I care about is the welfare of the 10s of thousands of animals such as this one, which are took on by ignorant clueless morons like this and then dumped when the penny drops that they do not have the mental capacity to provide it with proper care.
Name them. Shame them. Ban them from keeping animals for life.

At least this lovely doggy wasnt found hung and dumped in sankey valley like the dog that was found by a toddler the other day! That said it doesnt excuse their behaviour. It is somewhat understandable that people cant always manage their pets but they could visit the RSPCA etc during office hours! On a positive note for the dog, what her previous owner has lost, her next owner will have gained.

Re comments from Disgusted - im not making excuses for anyones behavior. Not even yours. I do try to be perfect in every way just like you but unfortunately even I make mistakes just like the dog owner. You however - well you must be extra special and make no mistakes what so ever.Name and shame you say - yet you fail to give your name so you can be shamed after the drivel you wrote. You better get down to spec savers as you seem like such a short sighted person. In some cases a sledge hammer to crack a nut is not the answer. It would be better used to knock sense into some though.

FAO Big Ed, got your back up so much you had to post it 2 times??
If only I was as skilful as you with the ability to determine someone's character from a post on a website..
Get a grip.
I have a right to an opinion and my opinion is that these people should not have taken on an animal in the first place if they could not handle it properly.
It may shock you and your bizarre perception of me but I accept that people make mistakes, however this a pretty **** big mistake to make which could have quite easily been avoided had the owners put a little thought into whether they would make suitable owners, just like the 10s of thousands of other dog owners you seek to excuse for not thinking.
If anyone needs some sense knocking into them, it is certainly not me.
Perhaps in future you should think first before casting aspersions on my character and realise that everyone is entitled to an opinion and just because mine does not agree with yours it does not make it any the less valid.
Grow up, there is no need to get so personal and insulting.
