CARNIVAL organisers are encouraging people to clown around at this year's celebrations.
The parade at the 2008 Alsager Carnival has a circus theme, and clowns are being sought for the festival.
"Anyone wishing to dress as a clown is in with a chance of winning the much-coveted award for best fancy dress," said Richard Sutton from the carnival committee.
"The parade this year will be led by Lions Youth Brass, and it is hoped there will be more musicians walking the route than ever before."
Awards are given for the best float, the best fancy dress and the best children's fancy dress.
On the carnival field there will be an array of professional circus performers, offering tips on how to learn performing skills and demonstrations of their acts in the main arena.
There will also be all the usual attractions, including stalls, children's racing competitions, a dog show, oatcake throwing championships and refreshments.
Anyone wishing to have a charity stall on the day or a float in the parade can ring Richard on 01270-874206.
