THE colleagues of a Crewe man who lost life in a road accident have paid tribute to him this week.

The funeral of Peter Bryan Sheldon, who died following a collision on Edleston Road on New Year's Day, took place on Thursday last week.

The 33-year-old father of three, who lived in Haslington, was killed after being in collision with a car as he was walking at around 10.22pm.

This week a spokesman from his employers Tru-Form, said: "May we extend our sincere condolences to the family of Peter Sheldon.

"Although Peter worked at Tru-Form for a relatively short time he was liked by all the members of staff and had made friends with us all, he showed great loyalty towards the company and was very flexible in his approach to his work.

"He had many friends as was noticable at his funeral and we hope that the presence of our representative, Mike McGrath his team leader will bring some comfort to know how much we respected and liked him.

"On the day we closed for the Christmas break Peter came out with several colleagues and had a drink and a chat and was looking forward to a new year and a new job."

Peter's father Bryan Sheldon said last week how he and his wife had the traumatic ordeal of identifying their son's body at Leighton Hospital and then breaking the news to the mother of his three children.

The collision happened outside the Far East Cheshire and Thai Take-away and involved a small red hatch back.

Three men aged 20, 21 and 23 were arrested on suspicion of murder and causing death by dangerous driving, and have since been released on police bail.

The incident has increased calls from traders and residents along Edleston Road for speed restrictions.

Prior to the incident more than 500 people had signed a petition calling for speed bumps on the busy road which has been branded a rat run'.

Police are asking for any witnesses to the New Years Day collision to contact Sergeant Carl Bailey at Crewe Police Station on 01244 613328.
