CREWE Fire Station's annual children's sports day was cancelled for the third time this summer because of heavy rain over the weekend But organisers are determined not to be beaten and are now on the lookout for an indoor venue to host the event.
Attending the event to start the first race at Macon Meadows was Deputy Mayor Margaret Martin and consort Bill Martin.
Iain Chalmers, of the Cheshire Academy, provided much of the sports equipment and athletics coach Malcolm Bowyer was on hand to encourage the youngsters.
But once again events were overcome by the British weather.
Despite the latest setback Councillor Ray Stafford and Crewe firefighter Gareth Roberts, who organised the event, are determined that the sports day should go ahead and in the meantime are hoping to find a suitable indoor venue for the event to be held next month.
