BURMA pulled off a major surprise in Runcorn Apec Taxis Darts League on Thursday night.

The team at the foot of Section Three, with previously only one league victory to their name, beat leaders Pavilions 6-3.

That enabled Welly to take over at the top after a 106 finish from Neil Lambert helped his team to a 5-4 win against Dreadnaughts.

Prospect Has Beens also moved ahead of Pavilions and are now in second place after beating Fiddlers Three by the same score.

Lion Stonecutters gained a 5-4 win at the expense of Union Tavern and that enabled them to move ahead of Dreadnaughts into fourth place.

Red Admiral gained their first league win of the season when they beat Section One opponents Tranny Lads 5-4.

Ironically, the best in that match came from the losers' Tom Humphries, who had the quickest game of the night with 17 darts.

There was no change at the top of the table although leaders Halfway A were pushed all the way by Halfway Gents before running out 5-4 winners.

The best for the leaders was an 18-dart game from Steve Worrall.

Second-placed Albion's 6-3 win against Lion Doo Waps included a 19-dart game from Paul Melia, while Tony Jones produced a 101 finish for the losers.

Navvy were able to move ahead of Lion Doo Waps into fourth place after a 19-dart game from Neil Ward helped his team to a 7-2 win against Roundhouse.

The losers' Steve Finney produced a rare feat when he had a score of 171, consisting of three triple 19s.

Third-placed Clarry B kept in touch with the leading two teams when they defeated Dock Lads 5-4.

A 5-4 win against third-placed Tricorn has enabled Union Tap to open up a four-point lead at the top of Section Two.

A contributing factor to that was also a 5-4 defeat for second-placed Grapes at the hands of Halton Marauders.

Halfway Mixed were able to move ahead of Tricorn into third place after they beat bottom team Wanderers 5-4.
