WOLVES conceded 32 points without reply as they threw away a half-time lead to lose 38-14 at Wigan on Friday night.

Wolves led 14-6 late in the first half but collapsed after the interval as Wigan ran in five second-half tries to relegate the visitors to sixth in the Super League table.

Paul Cullen welcomed back Martin Gleeson and Rob Parker for the clash at the JJB Stadium but opted to leave out Chris Riley.

Matt King switched to the left wing with Kevin Penny on the right flank, Vinnie Anderson at left centre and Simon Grix making his first start since February at loose forward.

Wigan scored the first try of the game when George Carmont scored from Thomas Leuluai's inside pass, with Pat Richards converting.

But Wolves responded when Matt King powered past Richards from close range after Vinnie Anderson's offload had put brother Louis in space.

Chris Hicks added the conversion to level the scores and Wolves then went ahead as Vinnie Anderson dived to touch down Michael Monaghan's astute grubber kick.

Andy Bracek collected Martin Gleeson's brilliant reverse pass to put the visitors 14-6 in front in the 38th minute before Vinnie Anderson was harshly sent to the sin bin by referee Ashley Klein for a late tackler on the kicker.

Another controversial penalty led to Richards putting Wigan back within six points at half time and the hosts were back on level terms 13 minutes into the second period when Trent Barrett's curving run saw him nip inside Penny for a converted try.

Wigan then added two more tries within seven minutes to effectively end the match.

Liam Colbon crossed after a fine move, which was started by Gareth Hock's break and also involved Carmont and Leuluai.

Barrett followed that by charging past Jon Clarke and Mark Gleeson from close range after receiving a pass from Mickey Higham.

Wigan continued to pile on the points as Hock scored from Leuluai's pass after prop Iafeta Paleaaesina had careered forward and offloaded the ball.

The scoring was then completed as Joel Tomkins fended off Grix's tackle to race down the middle of the field and beat full back Hicks.

Wigan: Pat Richards (7g); Mark Calderwood, Phil Bailey, George Carmont (1t), Liam Colbon (1t); Trent Barrett (2t), Thomas Leuluai; Andy Coley, Mickey Higham, Paul Prescott, Gareth Hock (1t), Harrison Hansen, Sean O'Loughlin. Subs used: Iafeta Paleaaesina, Stuart Fielden, Richie Mathers, Joel Tomkins (1t).

They may weell be Neil, but it has a ring of truth about it. I actually heard the same story from another source this morning. I still think you'll end up with Ellery hanley, which wouldn't be a bad thing. He did ok at Saints in his short stay but just fell out with the chuckle brothers. I think PC is rather like Gordon Brown and will need to be dragged from office kicking and screaming so the fact the decision may have been made is neither here nor there. Time will tell.

Firstly Mick i'm warrington born and bred brought up in orford and moved to sankey after i got married. I too have heard the rumours about PC and furthermore have been told that graham murray is the man replacing pc, i was told this on sunday then lo and behold GM resigns his post with immediate effect on monday morning. Can't believe though that PC would hang around waiting for his successor to arrive, knowing that he had been ousted, surely if a decision had been made that early then jimmy lowes would have been put in temporary charge for 1 game, therefore i believe these rumours to be just that RUMOURS!

What game plan?????

If this is correct why wait until after the Castleford game? The chances are that they will have a stronger mental attitude than we will. They may well have more available first team players than we have. Admittedly we have a stronger team on paper, but we are paper thin at present. Losing another game to a lwoer team will do our chance of a top six finish no good at all.

Chaddy sorry to disagree but we already have a coach who talks a good game "taking the positives" out of each defeat. Whoever lands the job - should it become vacant- needs to instil discipline and control from the start. Wouldn't mind who it is as long as the effort returns.
See where your coming from exile, but T.R. seems to talk about actual coaching pointers & what to look out for during the game & not a pile of bull to cover his inability... Completely agree about the discipline.

TBH I don't think the Guardian will put any slant on what we have to say on this forum. They will sit on the fence as usual. The only time I have known the WG to raise a stir where the Wire were conserned was the fight for the new stadium. I think they did a great job backing the club and supporters.
Without hardened facts IMO they wont back any sort of campaign against reasons behind poor performance.

I bet this is nearer to the truth than most of us could ever believe. One thing for sure is that Cullen won't go unless he's forced to go - who would pay him his £80k+ salary? A Super League Club? Industry? How about touring the UK as a Motivational Speaker? How do you turn an alleged World Class Player into the player that Matt King has become?

I think the only way that the board will get it into their heads that the supporters are not happy about the coach, is when the season tickets come to be renewed. May be it would be a good idea to pick and choose our games, instead of renewing our season tickets, going to just the top games. Mind you, we will probably get beat in those games if PC is still in charge.

How about Charlie Cairoli?
Mick, why don't you act your age instead of your shoe size, or better still frequent a site where the rest of you plastic scousers assemble. If you've nothing constructive to say then remain quiet.

Heard a few names mentioned but no mention of Tony Rae. He seems to talk a good game when on Boots n all & maybe should be in the frame...

if only warrington had the bottle to sack cullen as hull have sacked their coach for not getting up to speed
they expect , their fans expect as do some of ours , but cullen has got an hold on the board some how and we as a club under cullen will go nowhere as it is being proved , not by heresay but by results and the quality we have in camp .
Get a good coach to our club and watch the results come flooding in !!
Cullen has took us as far as he can top 8 no more , no trophies, no titles etc so if you cullen doo gooders want him at the helm then put up with these stats and save your money on cup games and play offs !
